Ford shuts down its Plants in India- Ford Motor Co., a US auto major will shut down its two Indian plants at Chennai(Tamil Nadu) & Sanand(Gujrat). Eco Sport, Figo and Aspire were produced from these plants. Going ahead, it would only sell imported vehicles like Mustang in the Country.

Piyush Goyal attends G-20 Sherpas’ meeting- Mr. Piyush Goyal, Commerce Minister attended the two-day virtual meeting of G-20 Sherpas. Mr Goyal said,the meeting deliberated on recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, sustainable development and issues relating to the environment, climate and energy.

Cabinet approves ₹10,683 crore incentive scheme for textile sector- The Central government approved production-linked incentive (PLI) for the textile sector with a budgetary outlay of ₹10,683 crore.This PLI scheme is for man-made fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics and 10 segments/products of technical textiles.

Cabinet cleared $2.5-billion buy of 56 C-295 military transport planes- The Union Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) cleared the acquisition of 56 C-295MW medium transport aircraft from Airbus Defence and Space, Spain, in a deal worth $2.5-3 billion.The acquisition will be done under the ‘Buy & Make’ category of the Defence Procurement Procedure. Of the 56 aircraft, 16 are to be delivered in flyaway condition from Spain within 48 months of signing the contract, while the remaining 40 will be built in India by the Tata group within 10 years of contract signature.

The Cabinet approves pact between Russia, India for cooperation in field of geosciences-The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of Geosciences between the Joint Stock Company Rosgeologia (State holding Company), a legal entity incorporated under the laws of the Russian Federation and the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
